NEW ORLEANS—Stymied down low for most of the game by LSU’s vaunted defense, Alabama was forced to score from distance in order to capture victory in last night’s BCS title game. The Crimson Tide, whose strength wasn’t in their scoring, rode a hot streak as they went 5 for 7 from downtown.
“We adapted tonight,” said Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban on his team’s ability to win in an unconventional manner. “We just kept putting the ball into the net, and that was enough for the big win.”
Alabama was able to add a six-pointer late in the game, a feat so rare for the Tide that they swarmed the field in celebration after the game and even gave Saban a Gatorade shower to mark the momentous occasion.
