PORTLAND—The life of a once promising knee has been cut tragically short, as doctors have diagnosed it with an incurable case of Greg Oden. This rare medical condition only occurs in about one out of every six billion people and renders the infected knee completely useless.
“The patient has probably had Greg Oden its entire life,” explained Dr. Jessica Hartland, lead specialist at the Limb Articulation Center at Portland’s General Hospital. “But we are just discovering it now, and at this point Greg Oden has fully encompassed the knee. There’s nothing we can do to make it healthy and functioning again. It’s unfortunate, but a reality of being a knee with Greg Oden.”
