
The Colorado Rockies get their shortstop, Troy Tulowitzki, back from the disabled list and then watch their closer go down in a heap in the outfield during batting practice.
Ian Stewart ripped a line drive into right field during batting practice Tuesday and hit Huston Street in the "abdomen."
Head athletic trainer Keith Dugger said Street passed out a few times and felt pain down his right leg and in his stomach.
"Right in the pelvis," Dugger said.
Any guy knows the joy of getting hit in the family jewels, let alone being crushed there with a line drive. The Rockies sent Street home to rest after being examined in the emergency room.
"I was hoping I wasn't going to hit anybody," Stewart said. "He said, 'At least you hit the ball hard.'"
Good for Street to have a little sense of humor while down on the ground inevitably feeling like his stomach is crawling up through his esophagus.
