KANSAS CITY—The NFL lockout may be preventing most of the league’s players from plying their trade, but it hasn’t stopped Bengals’ receiver Chad Ochocinco. By joining the MLS’s Kansas City Sporting, a club that plays a game internationally known as “futbol” but often called “soccer” or “the other football” by Americans, the enterprising Ochocinco has discovered another version of football at which he can fail.
“I think of it as a loophole,” said Ochocinco, who has spent the past few seasons failing to play real football in Cincinnati. “The owners won’t let me suck at regular football. Fine. I’ll just suck at the other kind of football.” Experts are fully expecting Ochocinco to fail at this new version of football because it requires the same skill set Ochocinco used to fail at the football he is more accustom to—namely running around doing nothing while avoiding to touch the ball with his hands.
