NEW YORK—Despite contradictory reports, Major League Baseball is still unsure how many games it will suspend Washington Nationals outfielder Nyjer Morgan for being a jackass. Morgan, who started a benches-clearing brawl by charging the mound in the Nationals game against the Florida Marlins Tuesday, has come under fire from many circles for his recent on-field behavior. When asked about the brawl and previous incidents involving the Washington outfielder at a press conference Wednesday, however, commissioner Bud Selig seemed puzzled and issued a brief no comment. According to league spokesman Aaron Rubnutt, the reporter’s question was the first time that Selig or anyone at the league’s Manhattan headquarters had heard about the fight or Morgan’s crazy week. “We obviously don’t really watch many Nationals or Marlins games, especially now that Stephen Strasburg is hurt,” Rubnutt admitted. “If we didn’t see the Japanese announcer mash-up of the fight on YouTube, we probably would ignore addressing it altogether. The media would too. That was pretty funny and the clothesline on what’s his name was great. Because of those factors, it’s understandable why the video went viral and prompted this media controversy even if it involved teams as boring as the Marlins and Nats.”
