X Games kicks off ESPN’s annual celebration of flipping, spinning & grabbing
ASPEN, CO—Today marks the start of the 16th X Games, ESPN’s annual tribute to people flipping, spinning and grabbing their snowboards, skis and snowmobiles.
“It’s really about coming together as flippers, spinners and grabbers,” said one X Games skier. “Skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers usually run in separate cliques, but X Games is the one time each year when us and our fans can all come together to show how much we love to grab, flip and spin ourselves and things.”
The four day event, which many refer to as “The Shark Week of Flipping, Spinning and Grabbing,” will feature the world’s preeminent flipping, spinning and grabbing enthusiasts as well as musical performances by artists who embody the flipping, spinning and grabbing spirit.
“It’s just a great time,” one spectator said. “Each year the flips get more flippier, the spins more whirling dervish like and grabs firmer. If you care about that, you’re here, or at the very least glued to you television.”
