Wannabe musicians in Nashville compete to write the first angry Kiffin folk song
NASHVILLE — Wannabe musicians across Nashville stayed up late into the night writing music Tuesday. When news broke that University of Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin had abandoned the program for the top job at USC, starving musicians in Music City picked up their banjos and fiddles and began writing the next great angry folk song. “I know if I can get my song out first, that will go a long way,” said aspiring folk musician Uncle Zeke Oakridge. “I’ve got some wonderful metaphors about a Trojan horse and a catchy chorus. I think it could be the next ‘American Pie.’” Other musicians fervently played the fiddle, banjo and grew scruffy beards in an attempt to catch lightning in a bottle. Capitol Records said it has not yet selected its angry Lane Kiffin folk song.
