Tebow Pro-Life Commercial Script Approved By CBS

According to Media Post Publications (via Deadspin), CBS has approved the script for a Super Bowl commercial from evangelical group Focus on the Family said to be involving Tim Tebow and his mother. Fear not, though, because the ad will apparently not carry too strong of a pro-life message, something that the network forbids in its advertisements.

Media Post: The network has a policy of prohibiting advocacy ads, even ones that carry an "implicit" endorsement for a side in a public debate. A CBS spokesman did say the network will review the video version of the spot before giving it the final green light, but does not anticipate any hurdles.

There has been speculation that Focus on the Family might use the Super Bowl platform to offer a pro-life message. That came after it was announced that college football star Tim Tebow would be featured in the ad and it would carry a "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life" theme.

Oh, goodie. The script, reports say, will tell the story of Tebow’s mother and her decision to forego having an abortion with Tim although there were concerns about potential birth complications. Tebow, of course, has gone on to lead quite a life so far, guiding the Florida Gators to a pair of national titles during one of the most accomplished collegiate careers of all time. In the process, he also became a wet dream for sports announcers who covered his games and is now perhaps the most famous virgin—though, it is hard to take that claim seriously—in the country. And, though he is unlikely to achieve success as a QB at the next level, odds are he will remain a personal favorite of the mainstream media for a long time.

As for the commercial, it should at the least be unintentionally entertaining. Indeed, if the game itself turns out to be a dud, the chance to see Tebow and his mom in this ad should make up for it.
