Shockey misses practice with a sore Albert Haynesworth
METAIRIE, LA — New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey did not practice for the second straight day at training camp with a sore Albert Haynesworth. The Albert Haynesworth is a medical term used to describe any minor injury or ailment a star player who is usually overpaid uses as an excuse to miss physical drills and contact early in training camp. “We’re hoping Jeremy can test his Albert Haynesworth in the morning and see how it feels,” said head coach Sean Payton. “We want to get him snaps with the starting team, and get him back out there as soon as we can but we don’t want to risk having him get a bigger Albert Haynesworth and then missing camp altogether.” Trainers say Shockey is day-to-day with an minor Albert Haynesworth, but Shockey does have a history with having Albert Haynesworths linger far into the season so the team wants to play it safe this time. “If we let Jeremy rest his Albert Haynesworth until he feels 100 percent, then I think we’ll be in a good place,” said Payton. “I know coaches have pushed Jeremy when he’s complained of an Albert Haynesworth before and it never ends well when that happens.” Shockey says no matter how bad the Albert Haynesworth is, he expects to be on the field for the start of the regular season.
