Shanahan won't let Haynesworth play until he completes Pepsi Challenge
WASHINGTON — Washington Redskins nose tackle Albert Haynesworth failed another conditioning test yesterday, keeping him out of Redskins training camp. The $100 million contract-holder Haynesworth who lost 40 pounds in the offseason in an attempt to move positions to defensive end wasn’t able to complete two 300 yard shuttle runs. Some speculate that he failed on purpose, upset that new head coach Mike Shanahan has not agreed to the position move. Shanahan, who is known for being tough on players, said Haynesworth will have to do exactly what he says before the player can join the team. “Once he succeeds at his conditioning test he will have to complete a Pepsi Challenge,” said Shanahan. “Unmarked cups of Pepsi and Coke will be presented to Haynesworth. He will take a sip of each and tell us the taste of which cola he prefers. If it is revealed that he’s chosen Pepsi he will then be allowed to join the team. But not until he chooses Pepsi.” Haynesworth had this to say in response to Shanahan’s Pepsi Challenge, “I like Coke. And I’m going to need a lot of bathroom breaks.”
