Ravens rest defense versus Browns
CLEVELAND — Leading 16-0 heading into the fourth quarter Monday night versus the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh decided to sit his entire defense for the remainder of the game. “We have a big game coming up against the Colts next week,” said Harbaugh. “I want my guys to be fresh. We believed we could hold them the rest of the game by just playing offense.” Browns quarterback Brady Quinn still struggled to complete passes with no defenders on the field, failing to score and even get the ball into Ravens’ territory. “We were trying to run high percentage plays like bubble screens to get him in a rhythm,” said Browns head coach Eric Mangini. “But for whatever reason we just couldn’t get it going.” When asked why Mangini would call for pass plays with no defenders on the field, he responded, “that would shatter Brady’s confidence. He needs to know we believe in him, no matter how horrible he is."
