Penn State ups Paterno's contract now that he can see
STATE COLLEGE- Penn State decided to extend and increase football coach Joe Paterno's contract after Paterno survived eye surgery that would give him the gift of sight. Paterno has been coaching blind for 70 plus years and Penn State believe he now has what it takes to win; eyes that work. "Coach used to call timeouts, ask us the score then scribble down a bunch of lines on the whiteboard to make a play," said a player. "He had us all over the place. Occasionally the center would hike the ball from the sideline. One time he lined up a receiver in the kitchen of the hot dog hut at the stadium. And weeknights watching game films often consisted of us watching Paterno homemade sex tapes until an assistant gently explained to Coach that it's probably time to get eye surgery ."
