Nets' five-year plan already running behind schedule
NEW JERSEY - New Jersey Nets owner MIkhail Prokhorov announced earlier this week that he has a five-year plan for the Nets to win a championship. After the draft lottery last night, Prokhorov let slip that they might already be way behind schedule. The Nets were positive that they would get the first pick in the NBA Draft due to their horrible record, but instead they received pick number three. "We worked really hard to get where we are," said Terrence Williams. "Obviously we worked too hard. I think we'll look back on this years form now and think, 'what if we lost just one more game?'" A large portion of the five-year plan was dedicated to obtaining Kentucky guard John Wall in the Draft, now they might have to settle for Derrick Favors, a power forward out of Georgia Tech. "I didn't see that coming," said Prokhorov. "That was not part of my plan. The plan I'm working on now might take a little longer. Or maybe I could change the goals, like say we want to win 20 games in five years, I'd say that's not out of the realm of possibility. I really like the sound of a five-year plan. It sounds like something that could sell tickets. So why don't we do that? I promise in five years, we will win 20 games. Bam! Back on schedule."
