Modern Sports Issues As Told By Dr. Seuss

Many have wondered why Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, never published an illustrated book about sports. Given that Geisel covered most prominent topics throughout his illustrious career, it was a bit disappointing and surprising. Based on a new discovery this month, though, it seems that Dr. Seuss nearly did write a book about the topic. Stephen J. Gertz of BookTryst recently uncovered the unpublished manuscript of a sports book manuscript believed to be written by Geisel during the early 1960s. Rick Chandler of NBC Sports’ Out of Bounds blog has more details.

More than anything else, the manuscript got us to wondering aloud what Dr. Seuss would write about if he were still alive and covering the sports world today. Here is our best estimate at what a few chapters would look like of Seuss hitting on the key issues facing the current generation of athletes.
