Jets call TO to complete overrated WR trifecta
NEW YORK — Minutes after dealing a fifth round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Santonio Holmes, the Jets were on the phone with free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens. “We’re looking to assemble the most disturbed, most overrated wide receiver class ever,” said New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan. “We’re going for guys who get suspensions. Washed up guys who had one or two good seasons. We’ve got the guy who can’t catch and loves getting in nighclub fights. We just got a pothead who likes to assault women, and now we want the biggest ego with the least left in the tank.” Ryan feels like these three receivers will best help second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez grow. “Hey if the kid’s really got poise,” said Ryan. “These three will definitely help him show it.” Ryan was disappointed Plaxico Burress is still not available, but will jump at the chance once he is freed from prison.
