Thought this was too humorous not to share. Earlier this year, it was reported that the Philadelphia Phillies' Double-A minor league affiliate, the Reading Phillies, would be passing out Ryan Howard garden gnome figurines at a game this summer. And that day came Thursday, when the club distributed gnomes to the first 2,500 fans in attendance.

And, according to the Inquirer, those Howard fans that wanted a gnome had to get to the ballpark well before game time. Four hours to be exact.

More than a dozen of the 2,500 Ryan Howard garden gnomes that the Reading Phillies gave away Tuesday have hit eBay, and bids edged north of $50 on Wednesday. The gnome shows Howard holding a bat, not a crutch. The line outside FirstEnergy Stadium began at 12:20 p.m., nearly four hours before game time. On Sunday, the R-Phils will hand out Domonic Brown T-shirts; the promotion was booked before he was called up to the majors.

Guess there’s always eBay for the die-hard Howard fans out there. The real Howard, by the way, is currently on the disabled list and watching his NL-RBI lead dwindle by the day.
