Dayton wins NIT, forces UNC to hang the NIT championship banner in UNC

NEW YORK - The University of Dayton Flyers beat the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in the NIT Championship last night. The Flyers celebrated their win by immediately giving all of their NIT championship gear to Coach Roy Williams and UNC because they thought it would be really freaking funny. Dayton also declined the right to hang an NIT championship banner in their home court but instead thought it would be hilarious if they hung it alongside the NCAA Championship banners hanging in the rafters of the once powerful, UNC. "We knew UNC didn't want to be there. But we did. And we won so there's no reason we can't do what we want," said Dayton coach Brian Gregory. "And we chose to taunt the crap out of UNC for years to come."
