Cushing wins Defensive ROY unanimously after making AP voters re-vote to his face

HOUSTON — In light of recent news that Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been suspended by the NFL for taking a banned substance during the 2009 season, the Associated Press took a re-vote for Defensive Rookie of the Year. And this time Cushing not only won again, but won unanimously. “Brian was really the clear-cut rookie of the year, with or without banned substances,” said AP managing editor of sports and entertainment Lou Ferrara. “The fact that I had to vote in the presence of a very angry and agitated Brian Cushing did not sway me in the least.” Cushing claims his presence was only fair. “All these scrawny old reporters think they’re tough sh*t behind a keyboard saying whatever they like behind my back,” said Cushing. “But get them in a locked room with me, the voting sheet and them staring at me in the eye while I flex and grunt, they’re going to be much more honest in that setting.” Ferrara agreed. “I think meeting the player actually helped me see the light. His rage was not from any banned substance. That was something real. Something palpable. Something he was born with. Yes, it was pure talent in that room. It had nothing to do with the choke hold he had on me.”
