Cost of printing brackets leaves thousands of office workers unemployed
NEW YORK — Employers forecast overhead costs of their businesses to rise sharply during the last two weeks of March, with staff constantly printing out their 2010 NCAA printable brackets for their office pools. Jason Kidman of Kansas City is one of the thousands of office workers who has been laid off in anticipation of all the printing costs. “My boss just came in and said I’m laid off,” said Kidman. “I guess it’s because everyone’s printing their bracket. I don’t even know what that means. I was never into sports or home improvement.” The projected number of brackets printed with exceed two billion this year, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars for struggling businesses. “Being able to print out our brackets is much more valuable than Dan in receiving,” said small business owner Malcom Parks. “I don’t even know what Dan does.”
