Caldwell loses in his coaching debut
INDIANAPOLIS - Jim Caldwell took the coaching reins from quarterback Peyton Manning on Sunday when he had his first start as a coach in the NFL. Coach Caldwell did quite well in the first three quarters, but then in his first professional coaching move, he pulled quarterback Peyton Manning from the game with only a five point lead. Then the Jets went to town. "I was proud of my first game," said first-time coach Caldwell. "I may have gotten a little excited with all that responsibility and we fell apart third quarter but I've been told it's not about whether you win or lose–it's how you play the game. I think that's the philosophy I'd like to impart to my players." Caldwell then added that he planned to go over the game tapes this week and find the exact moment that things went wrong. "I'm not exactly sure what happened but I intend to find out. And then maybe see if I'm allowed to coach some practices this week."
