Baseball/financial writer Jonah Keri always makes for an entertaining read, combining excellent prose with sound baseball analysis. Keri’s twitter account is fun to follow as well. On his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon, Keri posed an interesting baseball-related question to his followers: “Do Pat Burrell+David Ortiz slump into their beanbag chairs, devour Bugles + commiserate on their Hello Kitty phones over their pending DFAs?”

After doing some investigative journalism, I came across a surprising answer to Keri’s thought-provoking question. It took some time to obtain proof, but my findings show that, yes, Burrell and Ortiz do in fact “slump into their beanbag chairs, devour Bugles + commiserate on their Hello Kitty phones over their pending DFAs.”

Here's all the evidence you need:

While being humorous, Keri is right. The DFAs could be soon coming for each former slugger. Burrell, who was believed to be a shrewd signing for the Rays during the winter of 2008, is batting just .213/.304/.350 with only two home runs and a 78 OPS+. Now there are calls for Burrell to be replaced with Hank Blalock, currently in Triple-A Durham. Ortiz's struggles have been well documented, and, since a Big Papi laser show is unlikely, his days with the Red Sox should be coming to an end in the near future as well.
