It surely hasn’t been easy to be a sports fan in Detroit lately. The Tigers are nearly out of the Central race again a year after an infamous collapse, the Lions have been the joke of the NFL for a while now and the Pistons have also seen better times.

Yesterday, though, the Lions actually turned in an impressive effort against the Chicago Bears. And, for a few moments, it looked like Detroit was going to come away with an impressive season-opening win, which would've softened the blow of losing second-year QB Matt Stafford to injury. Due to a rather ridiculous rule (the call was right, the issue is with the rule), however, wide receiver Calvin Johnson’s game-clinching touchdown catch was overturned. Today, the non-catch has dominated sports talk radio/the blogosphere, with everybody and their brother offering their two cents.
