1. Ray Lewis' new nickname
It never ceases to amaze me that Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is not only free to walk the streets, but that America has embraced the former murderer as a role model. Lewis, who orchestrated the stabbing that led to the death of another man, is even now appearing in some really great Old Spice ads. True, he is an excellent linebacker and has been the foundation of one of the league’s best defenses over the past 15 seasons. But his national popularity (and frequent endorsements) is somewhat laughable to me based on his alleged role in the infamous Atlanta murder—even if he does play in the city known as being home to the hit show The Wire.
Last week, though, the Lewis love went way too far. A sports marketing firm in Baltimore, Dunkadelic Sports Marketing, decided to honor the veteran linebacker by giving him the new nickname “Raytorious L52.” I, unfortunately, am not joking....
