Latent racism aside, mom has a point here. The broken bones and slim chance of even marginal success just aren't worth it. Junior should wise up, focus on a more humble pursuit, go to school, get a degree, get a job, get married, move to suburbia and have a couple shitty kids of his own to resent and deter from chasing their dreams.
