The Romney Platform: War on Sesame Street

Most everyone agrees that Mitt Romney beat President Barack Obama in last night's debate--which is good news for fans of well coifed hair but bad news for fans of ruffled felt feathers, because should Romney make it to the White House, he plans on cutting subsidies to PBS--which would literally put Sesame Street characters on the street. It may seem cold hearted, but it's really good strategy for Romney. If he hopes to win this election, he needs to take Florida, and we know Floridians were never good at counting when it came to Presidential elections.

You should probably explain that to the Romney campaign-he implied that he was cutting off funding to PBS-even though he liked Big Bird. Thus the "lies" are actually coming out of Romney's campaign really-but that's nothing new. In any case, if PBS were to lose its funding, then there would be nowhere to air Sesame Street. Sesame Street has strict guidelines in which the major networks refused to cooperate when first approached about syndicating the show. On principle, I think they will still hold true to their ideals of education.

Clever lies and misdirection. Sesame Street is funded by private donation during fund raisers and by corporate sponsorship. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sesame_Street#Funding) But a good "minute of hate" is always worthwhile, especially when you can use it to vilify a Republican who wear magic underwear. (We're only supposed to practice religious tolerance towards Islam, right?)
