When you live in a country where drinking is all but illegal, New Years Eve takes on a different form. No bubbly in the club; no $100 cover charges or kissing females at midnight. Instead the evening culminates with a gaggle of guys getting together at the local hot spot, and grinding on reporters until they wallop one of the merry bunch in his face. It’s the same concept as the ball drop, really. Except, in the Pakistani tradition, there’s no countdown and rather than everyone urinating in their britches it’s just one concussed 19 year old.
