The ocean is awful. Not the coast, mind you. The coast is great--refreshing sea breezes, fried clams, waves gently crashing against the rocks, quaint little villages.

But the ocean itself? The worst. Sure, Finding Nemo and Shark Tale propagate the myth that it's home to magical and whimsical adventures, like an underwater Shire. But it's not. It filled with seaweed and roving islands of our trash. And monsters. Bona fide, frightening monsters--like this thing. And this one. And whatever the hell this is.

And now? Giant squids. Boat crushing, man straggling krakens. You'd hope if there was one cryptozoological marine beast that actually was real, it'd be a mermaid. But nothing cool ever comes from the ocean, so instead we get the awful giant squid.
